The new iconic cafe on Felixstowe seafront was completed in early spring 2022. We have been pleased to receive some images of the completed project following the fit-out works being carried out. The cafe houses a new cafe run by ‘The Kitchen @Group Company‘.

It is said that;  ‘The new cafe will play a key role in helping the town as it continues recovering from the impact of covid-19, attracting local people and visitors alike by offering indoor and outdoor dining with unspoilt views of the seafront. This will not only support tourism but will also help the economy by offering local employment opportunities, making the South Seafront an exciting place to visit, live, work and invest’ 

BA Systems have been pleased to support this project. After hearing about the scheme, we got in touch with the tender contractors back in 2019 to discuss the project and its requirements. Further to detailed correspondence with all tenders, we were finally able to draw up a full proposal. We were then pleased to learn that Barnes Construction would be taking the project forward as the successful principal main contractor, particularly given we’d worked with before on other projects in the past. After several amendments, we provided our full final proposal which detailed:

1. B40 Structural Glass Balustrades to Terrace and Ramp
2. B20 Freestanding Handrails
3. B20 Stainless Steel and Glass Infill, Utility Stair Balustrades

We were then appointed for the works in December 2020 where we began to draw up the detailed design for approval by the contractor. Due to the impact of covid-19, there were some delays on the project, particularly in relation to the fit-out package but with both the council, contractor and fit-out contractor on board, the deadline of spring 2022 was successfully achieved.

A total of 106.60 metres of the balustrade was installed across the project and with stunning views of the sea, the B40 Frameless Glass System was the perfect solution!
