3 Glass Wharf
3 Glass Wharf, a 115,000 square metre commercial development in in Bristol‘s Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone.
This 7-storey Salmon Harvester Properties development features a stunning glass facade and balustrade to reflect the site’s previous usage as a glassworks. When complete, the building will deliver an extensive Cat A office space that is due to be occupied by the HMRC as part of its regional centres programme.
The Solution
The project was main contracted by Wates Construction and designed by Darling Associates. The external facade package was let to Glassolutions.
At an early stage of construction it was established that there was a need for the balustrade base fixing channel to effectively integrate with the terrace fascias and soffits.
Following early design engagement, we were contracted for the design, manufacture and installation of our B40 Frameless Glass balustrades to the external terraces. This balustrade was complemented with a small stainless steel capping handrail and base channel cover trims to integrate with surrounding trades.
Project Achievements
-
Integrated base fixing detail
To ensure that our balustrade detail integrated effectively with the terrace fascia and the flooring, we provided powder coated aluminium base cover trims to the balustrade channel. These trims lapped over the fascia fixings to provide a seamless finish to the connection detail.
