100 Minories
100 Minories – A 5-star hotel situated near Tower Bridge and the Tower of London.
This 9-storey hotel has 370 guest suites and is the latest hotel development in the Grange Hotels portfolio. Due to the status of the hotel and the proximity of the building to the World Heritage Site of the Tower of London on the south and the Crescent Conservation Area to the west, the project had high specification requirements.
The Solution
Following early-stage pre-contract design discussions, we were contracted by Globalgrange Ltd to supply an install the glass balustrade package to the roof terrace areas. Our design team engaged extensively with Buchanan Hartley Architects to finally propose our B40 Frameless Glass balustrade for this external application. The structural glass product would provide a safe and compliant balustrade solution, whilst not impeding the views over central London.
The B40 balustrade product was provided with a low-profile aluminium capping trim to the top of the 21.5mm toughened and laminated glass panels. The balustrade base channel and supporting secondary steelwork was installed as a first fix item. The glass panels, capping trim and base channel trims were installed at second fix stage.

Bespoke secondary steelwork
Our design team developed a bespoke galvanised steel supporting bracket so that the ICE 1 base channel could be offset mounted from the concrete parapet wall by up to 160mm. This ensured that the detail coordinated with surrounding and integrating trades.

Coordinated installation
Our contracts team coordinated the installation of the first fix bespoke brackets with surrounding trades, such as the waterproofing and roofing contractors. This seamless coordination was achieved by ensuring that our install team appointed to the project had continuous presence throughout the install period.
