EV Charging Station & Retail Space.

The all-new Electric Vehicle Charging Station is located in Norwich on the Broadland Gate Business Park. The facility includes retail space with a WHSmith, M&S and Costa. The Charging Station is just the second Electric Forecourt to open in the country, following on from the Forecourt in Braintree, Essex. The Station provides up to 350kW high power charging for 22 Vehicles. There are also six low power charging bays and a further eight bays for the Tesla Supercharger network.

Given the Electric Forecourt is just minutes from our Head Office, we began speaking to the Main Contractor, Williams Southern Construction during the very early stages of the Project. Well before the project had started on site, we engaged with the pre-construction team and buyer to try and understand the full scope of the Balustrade works including offering any technical support through our Technical Library. With an understanding of the package we were able to provide suggestions to the team prior to receiving the full drawing issue. Once the design information was issued, we worked alongside the team to provide a proposal that would meet the Architects design intentions and provide a proposal that was commercially viable.

The scope of the package was relatively small with handrails required to stair wells 1 & 2. Our proposal detailed the following:

• B20 Stainless Steel and Glass Infill Balustrades with 10mm thick clear toughened and heat-soaked glass
• B10 Wall Handrails to Stairs with wall bracket and cover rose
